Good Dog Deed

December 30th, 2010

Well, it is almos da end of 2010, an Mom and I been busy cleaning up da house.  We like to do dis a few times a year, an take some time to go thru closets an dresser drawers an put aside tings we may not want or need anymore.  I like to donate my “fine quality items” to da local Salvation Army or Big Brothers - Big Sisters.  It makes me feel good to know that someone else might be able to use what I don’t need anymore.  An it is also kinda nice to have a bit more room in da closet, jus in case I happen to find a really nice pair of Doggie BooBoos I jus can’t live without!  NOT !  I don’t like booboos!

Please take some time to look around your home for items that you do not use anymore.
You could be helping out families that are less fortunate than you, and it will jus make you feel good inside.

What a great way to start 2011!

SPA DAY FOR BRY

April 2nd, 2010

Believe it or not, I actually look forward to my “Spa Day”.

Dis is da day where Mom gives me a BATH (although I do not care too much for that part) and a haircut and all other things that go with being a Yorkie.

Here I am BEFORE my bath and haircut.

spa1.jpg

After da bath is my favorite part.

Mom lets me go crazy in da towel.  She think I am rubbin to get dry, but really I am smearin my face all over to try to get rid of da CLEAN smell.  Who wants to smell CLEAN anyways???!!??  Give me a pile of gecko poop to roll around in, and I will be MUCH HAPPIER!!

spa2.jpg

I do love the blow~dry part too.  Mommy does very well makin sure I stay warm, but not too hot.  Da only part I hate is when she try to do my face.  But usually, if I hold relatively still and be a good boy, that part is over before I know it, and den I end up lookin like dis:

 spa3.jpg

And now my VERY FAVORITE PART of Spa Day!!!  Da HAIRCUT!!

I bet alot of Yorkies do not like da haircut, but I LOVE it.  I hop up onto da platform an don’t move a muscle, while Mommy razors away all da hot stinkin’ hair.  Da more she take off, da better.  In fact, if there was a “Bald” setting I would tell her use it.  I do not like hair, I want to be as nekked as possible.  Mom says good thing I am not a GIRL yorkie.  Since I am a boy, I can get away with lookin like a little rat more easily.

So, here I give you da final product of a Mommy Spa Day.  I can finally see again, an I feel WONDERFUL!!!

Mr. Moooooooooooooose

March 5th, 2010

So, once again, Mom And Dad were not here on my special Birthday.  While I was busy turning six years old, they were out having fun on da slopes of Brighton, snowboarding da day away.

How rude, ya?

Well, I am not so upset because although they were not here, they didn’t forget about me.  No Way!  When they came home, they brought me a new little buddy.  It is Mr. Mooooooose.

brymoose1.jpg

Mom and Dad get to see plenty moose when they go to Utah, and this trip was no different.  There was actually a moose right along the snowboard trail snacking on some bushes.

Mom thought I should have a moose of my own, so this is my Birthday present.  I love him.  He is soft and cuddly, an I know just where to squeeze him to make a loud “Moooooooooooooo…. Mooooooooooooo…. Mooooooooo” sound come out!!!

Drives mom and dad crazy after the 50th time or so… That’s the whole idea, isn’t it?

brymoose2.jpg

Thanks for da cool moose Mom and Dad, but no thanks for not being here to help me celebrate my Birthday….. I forgive you tho, cuz that’s the kinda Yorkie I am.

Me an my new bud, Mr. Moooooose.

Beach Bry

November 2nd, 2009

Recently, Mom has been taking me for long walks on the beach early in da morning.  It is good fun, and the scenery is so beautiful, thought I’d share some of da sites wit you.  We walk about 2-3 miles or so, an it is really good exercise havin to walk in da soft sand.  Mommy likes it cuz she get to get a tan at da same time.  I like it cuz da morning sea breeze keeps me nice and cool.

bryblog1.jpg

Da water is da most BEAUTIFUL shades of aqua and turquoise.  We never get tired of looking at it.

It helps inspire Mom to go home and paint.

bryblog2.jpg

Isn’t dis just gorgeous?  I can’t believe I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

bryblog3.jpg

After we walk, we usually just sit and veg for a while.  Watching da waves,  almost getting hypnotized as they roll in to shore.

bryblog4.jpg

There is dis wonderful outrigger canoe that Mommy an I just love.

C’Mon Mom!  Let’s paddle to da South Pacific. It shouldn’t take too long.

“Monk”-e-ing Around

October 23rd, 2009

Today I got to do something very fun, fo’ sure.  I got to go with Mom an Granma an Grampaw to da Beach!  We went very early in da morning, jus as da sun was rising.  It was so pretty, da waves was crashin on da rocks an da sand was sparkling.  Den, guess what I saw?  A Hawaiian Monk Seal!  He was jus layin on da sand, he look just like one ROCK.

bsandys5.jpg

Mommy don’t let me get too close, I wanted to go over an say “Aloha Mr. Monk Seal” but Mom say they are endangered an we gotta give them their space.  At least mom snapped a pic of me with Mr. Monk, that was pretty cool.

bsandys4.jpg

Then we was walkin’ further down da beach, an there was TWO MORE Monk seals jus sunbathin’ up on da sand!  WOW!  It is special to be able to see one of these, but three at one time!  What a treat!

bsandys3.jpg

I had a great day at da beach an I hope we get to go back again real soon (like tomorrow!)

Pine Martens.. Pikas… and Pups ! OH MY!!!!

August 24th, 2009

So, as you know, Mom and Dad love to hike.  They recently visited the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, and the wonderful peaks of Brighton, Utah this past month.  (I may or may not blog about that adventure later.  Depends what kind of mood I am in.  I am a little mad that I did not get to go along, yet again, but I know I am not allowed to visit da mainland because of stinkin’ Hawaii Quarantine Laws, so I wasn’t AS mad as not gettin’ to go to Maui with them!).

While hiking, Mom and Dad came upon many cute little creatures they call Pikas.  They are smaller than me, about 6-8 inches long, and weigh about 6 oz. or so.  Although many people think they are a big funny-looking mouse, or maybe a hamster, they are actually the smallest member of da rabbit family.  “What’s Up Doc?” Sorry, I couldn’t resist!

When mom and dad would stop to take a hiking break, they would usually find a little Pika scurrying around the trail between the boulders, collecting wildflowers, and carrying them off to their secret stash for winter munching.  Pikas make a funny bird-like scream noise, and after mom and dad finally realized it was Pikas making that sound, not a bird, they would smile when they heard it.  They say da Pikas reminded them of ME.  They had funny personalities an was always on da go…go……go!  They were glad da pikas was around to keep them company SINCE I WAS NOT!!!

Here is a PIKA:

  pmpblog6.jpg

Another cute little critter that mom and dad really like is da Pine Marten, which they also call me. It has very soft, shiny fur, and lives in da snowy forests.

Here is a Pine Marten:

pmpblog9.jpg

When they came home from their great hiking adventure, they brought me back some little critters.  I now have a pet Pika and a pet Pine Marten. We like to hang out on da warm bridge that overlooks da fish pond.

Nothing beats a nice sunny day with nothing to do but veg with your buddies.

pmpblog1.jpg

They are great little guys and they like to go play out in da yard with me, although, I always have to keep a close eye on Mr. Pika, he likes to wander off and try to pick all Mommies flowers!

“Now you get back here and play with us, Mr. Pika, an stop eating all Mommies Flowers!”

pmpblog4.jpg

Mr. Pika usually lives in higher elevations than Hawaii, more like 8,000 - 13,000 ft.  So, sometimes he gets a little annoyed with da warm sea level altitude and goes in search of cooler spots.

I guess we had enough sun.  Will make Mr. Pika happy (before he start to throw a screaming temper tantrum) an hang out in da nice cool shade da rest of da afternoon.

“Here, Pine Marten, buddy, I will take you to a cooler spot.”

 pmpblog2.jpg

“Hey Mr. Pika!!  Where you stay?  I think he over there in da cool shade, Let’s go over there.”

pmpblog3.jpg

Pine Martens… Pikas….. and Pups….. OH MY!!!

pmpblog5.jpg

I do think I am evewy bit as cute as da Pine Marten:

Mom & Dad’s VOLCANIC MAUI Hawaiian Adventure (In which I did not get to attend).

July 31st, 2009

I’m just bloggin today to share with you Mom and Dad’s way cool adventure they got to go on last month.  As you may or may not remember in one of my earlier blogs, they went to Maui, an I DID NOT get to go along.  They did bring me back a cool Maui Camo t-shirt, but.. let me repeat… I did not get to go.

Den, I find out, they went HIKING on Maui.  HIKING.  One of my very favorite things in da whole world to do.  How could dey not take me along?  I do love to stay at Gwanmaws an Gwampaws an dey sure do spoil me, but once I found out dat Mom and Dad was on a HIKING adventure, I had to give dem da “Bry Pout”.  I am not one to pout, an I am never ever in a bad mood.  (I wasn’t even really mad here, but I just make like I was so so sad, so they feel more bad - hee hee.  Here is an example of da fake sad pouty face I put on for them).

pout.jpg

Pitiful, ya??

So anyways, I wasn’t so upset after Mom explained to me that they wanted to take me, but the place they went was a National Park an NO DOGS ALLOWED.  How very rude of those Park peoples.  I am so well behaved, maybe they could have made an exception?  I guess not.

So, Mom and Dad went to Haleakala National Park on da Island of Maui.  It is a huge dormant volcano, an they spent 4 days hiking across it.  Mom just finished writing up a blog about it, an I wanted to share it with you all so you can see what a really neat and beautiful place that is. (Of which I wouldn’t know first hand because I didn’t get to see it for myself.)  Let me give a little more pouty….

A “Hot Diggity Johnsonville Dog” Hike!

July 26th, 2009

Just wanted to share the fun I had last evening.  Mom and Dad took me on a shorter hike (about 4 miles) up da Kuliouou Ridge Trail.  We went later in the day, near evening, so it wouldn’t be so hot out. Here I am at da Kuliouou trailhead.

 img_0100-small.JPG

The trail is all uphill, but is not TOO strenuous, and not alot of climbing over rocks and stuff.  It is pretty mellow and cool with lots of pine tree coverage, and we seen plenty neat birds along da trail (They was too fast for me to get any pictures of them though - Dang!).  We weren’t planning on hiking to the very top of da ridge, but rather about 2/3rds of da way up.  There is a nice spot we know of, and Mom and Dad wanted to try out their new backpacking stove and cook dinner up there.

img_0108-small.JPG

The tippy top of da mountain (you can’t even see it in dis picture) was in complete black rain clouds!  Oh no!  But, we weren’t planning on going all the way up, so we might be ok.  The air on the hike up was SO muggy, it must have been about 99.99999% humidity.  The most you can get before rain.  Mom and Dad was drippin’ sweat, but lucky for me, I don’t sweat.  On we went, up the trail.

At one point, mom kinda freaked for a second because she thought she saw a HUGE SNAKE in a tree up ahead!!  Then, I reminded her Hawaii don’t have snakes.  Upon closer examination, we found out it was a root of some other plant wrapped around da tree.

 img_0109-small.JPG

Finally, we made it to da area where we wanted to eat, but it was really windy cuz it’s kinda up on a ridge.  Mom didn’t like it, so we got to do something real fun and go OFF TRAIL lookin’ for a more sheltered spot!  And I, BryGuy, Little SuperYorkie, got to lead da way!

“FOLLOW ME, MOM AND DAD !  I will find us da perfect spot!”

 img_0110-small.JPG

Here is a little trail I found after some intense searching.

img_0112-small.JPG

I made them follow me thru all kinds of brush an mini-Norfolk pines an they probably thinkin’ “Where is this little dude goin?”.  But then, we came to this rather large pine needle covered clearing!  I did it!  I found da perfect picnic spot!

img_0114-small.JPG

It was totally sheltered from da wind, and we even had a semi-ocean view!  Unreal!  Dad got da alcohol stove set up an started cookin da Johnsonville Brats.

img_0115-small.JPG

Ouuuhhhh dey smell SO GOOD!  An after a long uphill hike, I WAS HUNGRY!  Mom got da buns an sauerkraut ready (I am not a fan of da Sauerkraut - it smells like a FUT to me!!!) an finally da big Wienerdogs was finished!

img_0127-small.JPG

“Ouuu Mommy, dat sure smells good.  Can I have a small bite?  Paw-eeze??”

We grinded!  Mom let me have some of da Johnsonville - yum! yum!

brat.jpg

It started to get cold out an we was hopin’ it wouldn’t start raining yet.  Sunset would be soon and we wanted to finish eating before it started to get dark out.  Mom let me wrap up in her fleece jacket an I was snug as a bug in a rug.

img_0133-small.JPG

Soon, we were on our way back down da mountain.  Dis way of da hike was easier since it was all downhill.  It started getting dark out, an mom and dad had to use their headlamps.  I didn’t need one for me, I have super-yorkie night vision built into my perfect little package!

“C’mon guys, da trail is this way.  I will lead you back down…. no problem!”

img_0141-small.JPG

Only thing I was a little scared of in da dark was running into da Hawaiian Obake (ghosts).  I heard plenty stories of several different Obake, especially in dis area.  We heard a couple really strange noises, but mom said it was just birds an not to worry.

“Hey MOM! Did you hear that?  Was that Obake?  Huh? Huh? Huh?”

img_0142-small.JPG

I stayed close to mom and dad da whole way down, an soon we was back to da trailhead. (Whew!)

 img_0151-small.JPG

We drove back home an I fell asleep on da way.  Luckily, I didn’t have to help Mom and Dad clean up all da hiking stuff afterwards.  I sure am one lucky little pup!

What a fun hike, an da Johnsonville made it yummy!!!

HAPPY FWIEDEGGZ (Friday) EVERYBODY!!

July 10th, 2009

ALLLOOOOHHHHHHAAAA !!!

Fwiedeggz is my favorite day of da week (besides Scatteredeggz an Sundeggz, I mean).  Today is an eggztra great Fwiedeggz because da weather is so nice dat Mom will be painting outdoors.  I love to see her open up da patio umbrella an take all her painting stuff out there.  I get so excited I can hardly stand it, because I know dat I get to spend all afternoon in an outdoor Paradise, da very best place for a Yorkie to be!

Let me take you on a tour of our little “Paradise Patio”.

The patio is not large, but it does function quite well and Mom tried not to let any little bit of space go to waste! There are two market umbrellas that block the sun an keep me nice an cool, while still allowing great natural light for Mom to paint by.  Much better den indoors.  Mom and I love to listen to Hawaiian music while she paints.  I even know all da words to “Tiny Bubbles”.  Impressive, ya?

os1.jpg

Da teak rocker in the shade is the perfect spot to just veg and think about how I can get Mommy to bring me another cookie.  It is also a good vantage point to watch her paint from, (and give my Yorkie 2 cents advice.  She always values my artistic opinions).

os3.jpg

A small pond with waterfall provides a very relaxing atmosphere.  I love da sound of da water and it almost instantly puts me to sleep.  As long as I don’t snore too loud an disturb Mom, I can’t think of a better way to spend da day.

os2.jpg

A small bridge takes you over the pond into an area with a hidden hammock.  Mom likes to lie in dis when she need to take a break from painting.  I love to sit on her tummy, although I am not a big fan of da hammock.  It moves around too easily an I don’t wanna get seasick.  But it is a fun place to watch da little geckos scurry among the areca palms.

os5.jpg

The bridge is where I like to go when I start to get a little chilled from being in da shade too long.  It is nice an warm, and I love to watch da little fishies swimmin below me.  I wonder if Mommy would let me go skinny dippin’??

os7.jpg

But my VERY FAVORITE place to just chill is my “Yorkie-Chimi”.  Yep, it is one-of-a-kind, for sure.  Mom doesn’t like to throw anything away, so when our clay chiminia cracked and broke, Mommy decided it would make a good table and Yorkie Cave.  She put a tropical tabletop on it, and made me a nice soft bed that fits perfectly inside it.  Da clay of da chiminia stays cool all day long, an I feel so nice an cozy inside while still being able to see all that is goin on in da yard.

os4.jpg

Yep, dis is da LIFE!!!  “Mommy, can I paw-eeze have a Mai~Tai with one of those little umbrellas in it, paw-eeze??”

 HAPPY FWIEDEGGZ, EVEWYONE!!!

FLOWERS OF ALOHA…….. finally!

June 2nd, 2009

tahitidream5.jpg

Many years ago, one of Mommy’s friends had a Plumeria tree that had some of da most BEAUTIFUL flowers I have ever seen. Deep red pink that turned to golden yellow in the center. Her friend gave her a stalk of the tree to see if mom could grow her own. She brought the cutting home and tried to propagate it (”propagate” is just a fancypants word for “grow”.  I so intellectual, ya??).
It did start to take root, and about two years later, we had something that resembled a very small plumeria tree with a few leaves, but no flowers. A few more years passed and the tree grew larger with many more branches and leaves, but still no flowers. What da heck???  You sure you know what you are doin, Mama?? I was beginning to think it would never bloom.

Finally, last month, after FIVE YEARS of patient waiting (which is almost since da time I was BORN!!), flower buds started to appear on the ends of the limbs. Our Plumeria finally gave us it’s beautiful flowers we had so longed for. It was definitely worth the wait….. at least I think it was.  Mommy sure has some strange ideas about what to do wit deez flowers though.   Oh well, they smell absolutely wonderful an I am a real Hawaiian Boy anyways!!! ALOHA !!!!

Bye Bye Toofie

April 28th, 2009

So, today I learned dat I haf to go to da Dr. to have a toof pulled out!  OH NO!  How can dat be?  Mommy takes super good care of my teeth.  She brush dem almost every single night an dey sparkle like da stars.  But I guess it must be because of one time, 6 months ago, I hit my front tooth on sumthin (I don’t even remember what it was now) an it almost got knocked out!  Mommy took me to da Dr. then,  and they thought it might re-attach, so we waited.  It did go back a little, but was still kinda loosey-goosey.  So now, today, 6 months later, da doc say it gotta go bye bye.  NO! NO! NO!  I LUF my toofies!!
Guess I just gotta find somewhere to hide.  Somewhere they will never find me. box1.jpg
This long narrow box looks like a pretty good place.

box2.jpg
I gotta be very quiet an sneek inside.  Mommy will never think to look in here for me.

Hee hee hee…
box3.jpg

Now, I just lie and wait until da day passes, then I can come out an surprise Mommy an no stinkin’ visit to da Dr.

box4.jpg

Oh no, it’s only been 2 minutes an Mommy found me.
Guess I just gotta go an get it over with.

Super Yorkie Bry climbs Hawaii Loa Ridge Trail.

January 27th, 2009

Last weekend, Mom and Dad took me on another very fun (and very hard) hike.  It goes to da top of Hawaii Loa Ridge in da Koolau Mountains.  It has the most awesome Island views along da way, as well as at da top.  For a while, I almost thought I was in da most remote reaches of da South Pacific.  No houses, no peoples, jus trees and plants and birds and beautiful cliffs everywhere you look! Here are a few pics, but you must visit my Bite Site to get da full tour.  There, you will also find out da AMAZING ANIMAL that I encountered only 10 minutes into da hike.  You won’t want to miss it!

ALOHA!
Here I am at da VEWY TOP of da Koolau Mountain ridge! Right behind me is a cliff that goes STRAIGHT DOWN!!! Scary!

Aloha Oe, Brother Bongo, Until We Meet Again….

December 2nd, 2008

I am very sad to be writing this Blog today.  Saturday night, my big brother Bongo passed away.  We was all rather shocked cuz Bongo was in perfect health, even tho’ he was gettin’ up there in age.  He still act like one puppy - jus like me!!  He did used to fry his brain out in da scorching hot sun, tryin to get his George Hamilton tan in his Speedos, but I don’t think dat was da cause either.  I think God jus needed him.  I will miss him alot, but not as much as my Brother Boomiez.  Boomer and Bongo were BEST BUDDIES and spent every minute together.  I think Boomer is lost now without Bongo.  Maybe I can try to become Boomer’s new buddy.  It kinda hard tho, he SO BIG, I gotta watch out he don’t accidentally smash me like a bug!
Here is some pics of my Brother Bongo.  I hope you are happy and peaceful where you are.  I think I will see you again some day.

I got to do sumthin’ really fun this past weekend. Mom and Dad taught me how to surf ! Yep ! Das right ! They took me to this beach called Sherwoods. It was a perfect day and mom took me out on da Boogie Board. Da waves were not big in human standard, but Yorkie size, I say they was a good 2 ft. overhead (over my head, at least). I wasn’t scared though — no way. The water was so warm and turquoisy blue, and not a cloud in da sky !! I caught wave after wave with Mom and she was so proud of me. People on da beach was pointin’ an laughin’ — I don’t think they ever saw a surfin’ Yorkie before ! Can’t wait to go back to da beach again next weekend !! HANG 20, DUDE !!

New Blueberry Iggy Pie

April 3rd, 2007

Last weekend, I got to go meet my new baby couzin’. Her name is “Blueberry Pie”, but we call her “BB”, for short. She is a 12 week old Italian Greyhound, an IGGY. She is jus’ the cutest thing ! Small in size, but big in atti-tute ! She only weighs one pound more den me ! She adjusted real well to movin’ in with her new Iggy sister, Lilikoi, an her new BIG brother Rhodesian Ridgeback, Nalu - who could double as a horse, he’s so big ! We had fun rompin’ around da house while Grama n Grampa sat an watched. We luv to show off for them ! Nalu was sent to da backyard for awhile until “BB” got adjusted to da new surroundings, so of course, I had to go an tease da heck out of him ! I ran to da sliding glass door “Neah… Neah… Neah….. Nalu - we inside havin fun an you are not… Neah… Neah….Neah…” Den he let out one ear shattering BARK at ME !!! I think I almost soiled myself, an next thing I knew, I was hidin’ under da sofa ! Guess he showed me whose da BOSS (at least at Aunties house, anyways !). Think I’ll stick to playin’ with da girlies instead, they more my size.

WELCOME TO DA FAMILY Little Miss Blueberry Pie !!
